History Made in Greenwich: Inside The Titans of Tobacco
Six of the world's greatest cigar families. Three hundred guests. One unforgettable night — and $228,350 raised to protect the future of premium cigars.
There are evenings a shop remembers, and then there are evenings the entire industry remembers. On June 10, 2026, at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut, The Tobacconist of Greenwich hosted the latter.
The Titans of Tobacco brought six of the world's most celebrated cigar houses under one roof — A. Fuente & Co., Padrón Cigars, La Flor Dominicana, Foundation Cigar Company, Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera, and Kelner Cigars — for a sold-out gathering of 300 collectors, makers, and enthusiasts from across the country. Families who have rarely, if ever, appeared together at a single event stood side by side for one night, and the result was something many guests described as a once-in-a-generation moment.

When the evening was over, the celebration had netted $228,350 for Cigar Rights of America (CRA), the nation's foremost advocacy organization defending the rights of premium cigar consumers and the businesses that serve them.

Six families, one room
The premium cigar world is built on rivalry as much as friendship — competing blends, competing philosophies, competing legacies. What made the Titans of Tobacco extraordinary was the willingness of six legendary houses to set all of that aside and gather for a cause larger than any single name on a band.
Heritage, craftsmanship, and advocacy were celebrated in equal measure. For a community that has spent decades guarding its traditions against encroachment, seeing these families together was a powerful reminder of what's possible when the industry moves as one.
The cigars that defined the evening now live on as The Titans of Tobacco Collection — a curated set of rare finds from the six families who made the night, available to collectors who want to own a piece of it.

An auction worthy of the moment
Co-hosted by The Tobacconist of Greenwich Chief Executive Officer Michael Cafagno and President and Chief Operating Officer Dylan Austin, the evening culminated in an extraordinary live auction of 18 collector lots, each curated from the six legendary families. Every dollar raised from the auction is being donated by The Tobacconist of Greenwich to CRA to support its ongoing work defending premium cigar enthusiasts nationwide.
"The Tobacconist of Greenwich has been bringing people together over exceptional cigars since 1974, and I'm not sure anything has ever captured that spirit quite like this night," said Michael Cafagno. "To have six of the greatest cigar families and so many cherished friends in one room, all in support of a cause that safeguards this craft, was a profound honor. What we build together is meant to outlast any one of us — and I'm grateful to everyone who helped point this industry toward an even brighter future."
"None of this happens without the makers, the collectors, and the community who believe in what premium cigars can be," said Dylan Austin. "The Titans of Tobacco offered a glimpse of where this craft is headed — somewhere remarkable, built on gatherings like this one and a shared commitment to the future. I'm grateful to every family and every guest who stood with us, and The Tobacconist of Greenwich is honored to help lead the way forward."
Why it mattered
For CRA, the impact reached well beyond the check.
"The support we saw at the Titans of Tobacco celebration is exactly the kind of grassroots energy that keeps premium cigars in the hands of the adults who enjoy them and outside of government encroachment," said Mike Copperman, Executive Director of Cigar Rights of America. "These hard-earned dollars go directly toward defending this industry and the people who love it."
Copperman noted that the night also helped recruit new manufacturers and introduced more consumers to CRA's mission — building awareness and deepening engagement in the organization's advocacy work. The event's multimedia productions, montages, and photography will continue to fuel CRA's recruitment and education campaigns long after the last cigar was lit.
For The Tobacconist of Greenwich, the evening set a new benchmark for what a premium cigar gathering can accomplish, and underscored the role retailers can play in protecting the future of the craft they serve.
