Elie Bleu Casa Cubana "Palacio Cienfuegos" Table Lighter
In the Elie Bleu tradition, the table lighter is not supplementary to the collection — it is the collection at its most immediate. Where the humidor stores the cigars over weeks or months, the table lighter is reached for at the moment of use: lifted from its position, brought to the foot of the cigar, returned. It occupies its corner of the room as a permanent reference to the aesthetic that assembled the full set. The Palacio Cienfuegos table lighter carries the Arab-Andalusian marquetry of the collection onto a table surface — the same visual language as the humidor that sits nearby, the same reference to the Palacio de Valle in Cienfuegos where Moorish Spain and the Caribbean found each other in 1917.
Casa Cubana / The Palacio de Valle
The Palacio de Valle is one of Cuba's most improbable buildings: an early 20th century private residence in the southern coastal city of Cienfuegos, built by a sugar baron who wanted the full decorative vocabulary of Moorish Andalusia — its arched openings, ornate balconies, tilework, and towers — transported to the Caribbean. It is a building about the meeting of cultures, the romance of excess applied to architecture, the kind of thing that can only be built in a place where money meets imagination at the right historical moment. Elie Bleu took that story and told it in wood and marquetry; the table lighter carries that story to the surface of the desk.
The Ritual / The Right Object
A table lighter that matches the humidor it accompanies transforms the smoking table from a collection of objects into an environment — one aesthetic, one story, one building rendering the full experience of the ritual from storage through ignition to rest. The Palacio Cienfuegos lighter does that work and does it in the limited edition of 199 that connects it to every other piece in the set.
