Elie Bleu Fire Horse J-12 Flat Flame Lighter
The J-12 is Elie Bleu's flat flame pocket lighter — the "Plano" format, designed for the cigar smoker who wants precision in a form that fits a jacket pocket. The flame is wide and flat rather than pinpoint-narrow: a brushstroke rather than a needle, covering the foot of the cigar evenly without requiring the lighter to be turned or repositioned. In the Fire Horse edition, the black lacquer carries the Bing Wu image — the Fire Horse of the Chinese sexagenary cycle, 2026's sixty-year designation — in a limited run of 288 pieces. An everyday object made collectible by the edition it belongs to.
J-12 / Black Lacquer / Fire Horse
The Elie Bleu J-12 carries the specifications that define the Maison's pocket lighter standard: the Double E Torch Flame Burner for a rigid, stable flat flame; 3Square Air Filtration to ensure optimum flame purity; a Carbon Fuel Filter that removes impurities before they reach the burner; Side Ignition with an ergonomic squeeze mechanism; a Tank Glass with Level Indicator so the fuel state is visible at a glance; the Half-Moon Flame Adjuster for precise height control; and the Reverse Ignition Fuel Shutdown System that cuts the gas when the lighter is inverted. Tank capacity is 1.2 grams of premium butane. The black lacquer finish is UV-resistant, applied to the palladium-plated body and finished to the standard that Elie Bleu applies to every object that leaves the workshop. The Fire Horse image on the lacquer connects the J-12 to the larger series — the humidors, the cutter, the J-15 — as a pocket-sized part of the same collection.
Flat Flame / The Plano Format
The distinction between a flat flame and a jet flame is not simply aesthetic. A flat flame covers more surface area at the moment of ignition, warming the tobacco more evenly across the foot. For cigars with larger ring gauges, this is a practical advantage: the J-12 does what a narrower flame requires multiple passes to accomplish. At its compact dimensions, it is a lighter that performs above its size — solid in the hand, reliable under use, and, in the Fire Horse edition, a limited object in a year that comes only once in sixty.
