Elie Bleu Vakar 3-Cigar Obsidian Ashtray — Black
The Vakar Collection is built around one material: obsidian from Mount Arteni, a volcanic formation whose stone has been worked since antiquity for its hardness, its edge, and its optical depth. Elie Bleu sources this obsidian and works it by hand — cutting each piece from a single block, polishing the surface to the degree that allows the stone to capture and return light without obscuring its natural character. No casting, no mold. The shape of each piece is reached through the stone.
3-Cigar Format
The 3-cigar ashtray is defined by a graphic triangular silhouette — one of the Vakar range's most visually distinctive forms. Three cigar rests are positioned within the geometry, with an ash cavity carved into the body. The triangular outline gives the piece immediate visual weight as a tabletop object, not just as a functional ashtray; it reads as a sculptural form before it reads as a utilitarian one. Despite having the same footprint as other sizes in the Vakar range — 17 × 10 × 4 cm — the geometry of this format sets it apart. A piece suited to a smoking room where design presence matters as much as function.
Black Obsidian
The black variant presents the deepest expression of the stone. At certain angles the polished surface behaves like a mirror, returning the reflection of the room. At other angles it goes near-opaque, a saturated black with only the internal variations — natural chips, transparency gradients, the characteristic inclusions of volcanic glass — giving the surface its texture and visual distinction. These are not imperfections. They are the authentic expression of the material. Each piece is visually unique.
