S.T. Dupont Horse Mane Line 2 "Perfect Ping" — Black/Palladium
S.T. Dupont celebrates the Year of the Fire Horse with the Horse Mane collection — a limited Line 2 series that channels the charisma, majesty, and untamed energy of one of China's most revered symbols.
The Fire Horse
In Chinese tradition, the Horse is the emblem of strength, speed, and freedom. The Fire Horse — rarest and most powerful of all — carries those qualities to their extreme: passionate, brilliant, and impossible to contain. The Horse Mane collection draws directly from this symbolism, translating the animal's defining feature into a decorative language that S.T. Dupont has mastered over more than a century.
Horse Mane Guilloché
The collection's signature element is a hand-engraved guilloché pattern designed to evoke the flowing motion of a galloping horse's mane. The rhythmic, undulating lines are cut beneath the lacquer surface, creating depth and movement that shift with the light. It is an exercise in precision that rewards close attention — each pass of the engraving tool adding to a surface that reads as both structured and alive.
Black Lacquer / Palladium
Where the Red/Yellow Gold variation burns, the Black/Palladium variation commands. The deep black lacquer absorbs light rather than reflecting it, drawing the eye into the guilloché pattern with quiet authority. The palladium finish is its natural counterpart — cool, refined, and restrained — giving this variation an understated power that makes it equally suited to the boardroom and the humidor.
The Perfect Ping
The collection preserves the Line 2's defining hallmark: the crystalline "perfect ping." That unmistakable sound — produced when the cap opens — has defined the Line 2 since its introduction and remains the acoustic signature of S.T. Dupont craftsmanship.
