S.T. Dupont New Table Lighter — Black / Chrome
The New Table Lighter's core innovation is its dual-flame trigger: a single mechanism that delivers either a soft yellow flame or a torch, depending on how the hand operates it. The Black / Chrome version presents this mechanism in the palette best suited to showing off the geometry it requires. Chrome against black lacquer makes the engineering visible — the lines of the diamond-point guilloché cap, the precision of the trigger, the clean edge where finish meets body. Nothing is softened. Everything is where it is supposed to be.
Two Flames, One Trigger
The trigger mechanism operates through a distinction between sliding and pressing. The sliding motion opens the wind-resistant yellow flame — the soft, controlled flame suited to cigarettes, close lighting, candles. The pressing motion opens the torch — direct, powerful, the flame required for a cigar or a situation where wind is a factor. The transition is built into the geometry of a single control: one object that does not ask the user to choose between two different lighters. It is the first time a table lighter has resolved this problem, and the mechanism is the piece's defining feature regardless of which finish surrounds it.
Line 2 Heritage / Diamond-Point Guilloché
S.T. Dupont drew on its own archives and on the design language of the iconic Line 2 to develop the New Table Lighter's visual language. The body is glossy black lacquer — saturated, striking, and immediately recognizable as the Maison's hand. The cap carries a diamond-point guilloché pattern: precision-cut diamond-head crosshatching that introduces texture and depth to what would otherwise be a uniformly smooth object. In chrome, the guilloché reads with particular sharpness — the cut metal reflects light differently than the lacquer below, and the contrast between them is cleanly defined. Chrome gives black its best contrast, and this is what that looks like at scale.
The Table Lighter Format
At 115 × 65 × 24mm and 325g, the New Table Lighter occupies a different category than S.T. Dupont's pocket lighters. It is not carried. It is placed — on the desk, on the smoking table, on the surface that defines the room's smoking arrangement. The 300-step artisanal manufacturing process that produces it includes laser welding and precision forming at every stage, the same process applied to the Maison's finest pieces. It delivers it in chrome for the smoker who wants precision without ornament.
