S.T. Dupont 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Smoking Kit — Mobilis in Mobile
There is a passage in Jules Verne where Captain Nemo, having shown the Nautilus to his three captive passengers, pauses before the motto inscribed on the submarine's escutcheon: Mobilis in Mobile. Moving within the moving element. It is the philosophy of an object — and a man — that does not work against its environment but within it. S.T. Dupont's Smoking Kit was made for those who understand fire the same way Nemo understood the sea: as something to be commanded from within.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea — The Collection
S.T. Dupont's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a limited edition collection paying tribute to Jules Verne's visionary 1870 novel. Organized around specific chapters of the book, the collection culminates in the Prestige Mobilis in Mobile range. The Smoking Kit is the fire-focused expression of this range — the Le Grand lighter and its Nautilus stand, without the writing instruments of the full Collector's Set, for the collector whose attention centers on the flame.
The Smoking Kit
The Smoking Kit pairs two objects: the Le Grand lighter and the Nautilus sculpture stand.
The Le Grand lighter carries the full visual language of the Nautilus in its design. Deep marine blue gradient lacquer covers the body, guilloché-engraved beneath with the fin details, porthole motifs, and submarine architecture that defined Verne's imagined vessel. The squid tentacle engravings reference the Nautilus's most famous encounter. The gold finish runs throughout — accents, trim, and the engraved details — giving the lighter the warmth of something that has been lit many times and will be lit many more. The cap opens with the Le Grand's resonant "perfect cling": a deeper, more authoritative sound than the Line 2's famous ping, suited to a larger instrument.
The Nautilus sculpture stand completes the set — a three-dimensional rendering of the submarine that serves as both display and symbol. Together they sit as they should: the lighter upright, ready; the Nautilus beside it, as if at depth.
Limited to 180 numbered pieces worldwide.
