S.T. Dupont Line 2 Camo — Green/Black
Camouflage is, at its core, a philosophy of surface: the idea that a thing can be hidden in plain sight by the careful management of color and pattern. It is not an obvious choice for a luxury lighter. A Line 2 lighter announces itself in two ways — by its physical weight and finish, and by the Perfect Ping of its opening, a sound that carries across a room. The Camo lighter takes the camouflage motif seriously as decoration and applies it to an object whose defining quality is self-disclosure. The result is a lighter that looks unlike anything else in the Line 2 catalog, and sounds exactly like all of them.
CLING Technique / Guilloché Under Lacquer
The Camo lighter is constructed using S.T. Dupont's CLING technique — the Maison's method in which the guilloché is engraved into the brass body first, and the lacquer applied over it, so that the colored surface has a structural foundation beneath it. The green and black camouflage pattern carries flame elements in vibrant red and green — the military motif adapted with a reference to the lighter's own subject matter, fire made part of the camouflage field. The matte finish of the lacquer gives the surface a quality that glossy lacquer cannot: the visual suppression that camouflage demands. A matte camo lighter does not catch light the way a lacquered dress lighter does. The surface absorbs it — which is, of course, the point of camouflage.
Matte Palladium / The Contrast That Remains
Against the matte green and black lacquer body, the palladium trim provides the only metallic element — frame, fittings, the hardware that holds the object together. Palladium on a matte camo surface reads differently than it would on a glossy or guilloché finish: it is the edge of the pattern rather than a finish choice for the whole. The CLING guilloché beneath the lacquer gives the surface a structural depth that flat matte lacquer cannot replicate — the pattern sits on a ground that has texture and geometry, the camouflage resting over the engraving the way the forest floor rests over the geography beneath it. At 62 × 37 × 11mm and 130g, the Camo lighter is the Line 2's standard form, unchanged.
Double Flame / The Perfect Ping
The Camo lighter features S.T. Dupont's double yellow flame — two yellow flame jets for a broader, more consistent ignition. Opening the lighter produces S.T. Dupont's Perfect Ping — the acoustic signature of the Line 2, as familiar as any sound in the cigar world. The ping does not conceal. It identifies. A lighter that looks like it belongs in the field, and sounds like it belongs in a club. Personalization available up to three characters.
