Before the lighter comes the cutter. The sequence is fixed: cap removed, foot lit, cigar drawn — and the quality of everything that follows depends on how the first step is executed. A clean, even cut at the correct depth opens the draw properly and protects the wrapper from unraveling along the length of the smoke. Real Mother of Pearl

Nacre is built layer by layer inside the mollusk — hundreds of laminations of aragonite crystals and organic protein, each fraction of a micron thick, accumulating over months into a material that catches light differently at every angle of observation. The iridescence is structural, not surface: it lives inside the material rather than on top of it, which is why genuine Mother of Pearl has depth that no printed or laminated substitute can reproduce. On a cigar cutter, the nacre is in the hand at close range — the context in which the difference between real and synthetic is most apparent.

Palladium Finishing

Palladium finishing is applied to the hardware and mechanism throughout. The cool precision of palladium and the cool luminous white of Mother of Pearl occupy the same tonal range — silver-white on silver-white — without competing. The composition is quiet and coherent, the kind of object whose quality registers through proximity rather than display.

The Cut

The guillotine mechanism delivers a clean, even cut across the full diameter of the cap. The palladium-finished blade is sized for standard ring gauges and executes the cut in a single motion without tearing the wrapper or pulling the binder beneath it.
