Stefano Ricci SR Dual Flame Lighter — Nail Polish Blue / Palladium
The Blue / Gold version of this lighter works through contrast: the warmth of gold against the cool saturation of blue, a relationship that has organized decorative objects from Byzantine mosaics to Sèvres porcelain. The Blue / Palladium version works differently. Blue and palladium are tonally adjacent — both cool, both in the silver-white-to-blue part of the spectrum — and their combination produces unity rather than tension. The object is of one mind about what it is.
This tonal consistency is its own kind of statement. An object that is cool throughout, that does not interrupt its own palette with warmth, reads as deliberate and composed in a specific way. The blue lacquer body and the palladium hardware are not performing a contrast; they are two materials in the same register that happen to be adjacent to each other on the same object, and the result is a lighter that is visually quieter than its Gold counterpart without being less considered.
Nail Polish Lacquer
Blue nail polish is applied to the lighter body for chromatic depth and surface quality at the scale an object this size demands. The medium is formulated for maximum saturation in small applications — the result is a blue that has interior depth rather than surface flatness, and that holds its color with the durability the medium is designed to provide. In palladium context, the blue reads as cool and precise rather than vivid and contrasting: the same color, in a different relationship.
Palladium Hardware
Palladium finishing is applied throughout the mechanism, trim, and fitting. Palladium resists oxidation and holds its silver-white tone without the maintenance that some other metal finishes require over time. In the context of the blue lacquer body, it reads as an extension of the same tonal direction rather than a counterpoint to it.
Dual Flame System
The lighter operates with two flame modes — soft flame for table use, torch flame for outdoor conditions. Both modes from a single piece.
