There are objects that make their statement through color and objects that make it through the absence of it. White briar root with palladium details is the second kind. The white finish on the briar is as pale as a pigment can be while still being a color — it opens the grain rather than covering it, making the burl figure of the wood visible as relief and texture under the lightest possible wash.
