Stefano Ricci SR Travel Humidor 9 Cigars — Crocodile Leather / Gold
The surface area of a travel humidor is significant — 32×25cm across the lid alone — and crocodile leather at that scale is a different proposition from crocodile leather on a lighter or a cigar case. On a small accessory, the scale pattern of the belly section is a detail, present in close inspection, remarkable in its regularity. On the lid of a travel humidor, the same scale pattern covers a surface large enough that the geometry of the material becomes fully apparent: the rows of scutes, the natural variation in scale size, the grooves between each element creating a dimensional surface that reads across the full width of the piece. Crocodile leather at humidor scale is crocodile leather at its most architecturally present.
Genuine crocodile leather is CITES-regulated at every stage of its supply chain — from the controlled farm of origin through processing, tanning, and finishing to the finished good. The documentation that accompanies a CITES-compliant crocodile leather product is a legal requirement, and it represents a supply chain commitment that separates genuine exotic leather goods from imitation. The belly section used for luxury accessories — the finest-scaled, most regularly patterned portion of the skin — has a surface depth that reflects the investment in both material and craft that a piece at this level requires.
Genuine Crocodile Leather Exterior
The exterior of the travel humidor is covered in genuine crocodile leather — the belly section, with its fine, regular scale pattern, applied to the full surface of the lid and base. At 32×25cm, the lid presents the material at a scale that fully reveals the geometry of the scale arrangement: each scute defined by natural grooves, each row organized in the characteristic offset pattern of the crocodile belly, the whole surface catching and releasing light differently across the raised scales and the deeper grooves between them. No two skins have identical scale patterns; no two humidors covered in genuine crocodile leather are identical.
Mahogany Interior
The interior is lined with mahogany — dimensionally stable, fine-grained, and appropriate to the precision fit that a sealed humidor requires. The mahogany lining provides the nine-cigar layout: seven positions for cigars up to 199mm with a maximum ring gauge of 58, and two positions for shorter formats up to 118mm.
Gold Details
Gold hardware — the hinges, the clasp, the fittings — completes the exterior in warm precious metal. The combination of genuine crocodile leather and gold hardware is the classical pairing of the finest exotic leather goods: the organic depth of the skin and the reflective warmth of the metal, each material at the apex of its category.
